Sara Parra, MSW, has 20+ years of experience in local advocacy, community development, and social impact programming. Sara began her career in southern California, where she lived for over a decade. At United Way of San Diego County, Sara managed a multidisciplinary team of 100+ experts as part of the 10-Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness. The role required creative partnerships between community foundations, the City of San Diego, and its 18 municipalities, which established her interest in how change happens at the local level.

This interest led to an initiative within the City of Encinitas that prioritized environmental and community well-being. After identifying a discrepancy between the City’s policy on pesticide use and its practices, Sara proposed a pilot program using organic measures. The City Council approved the pilot unanimously, resulting in San Diego County's first pesticide-free park.

When Sara relocated to New Jersey, she joined United Way of Bergen County, where she continued her work with local government, developing affordable and inclusive housing options for older adults, individuals with developmental disabilities, and families.

At eFM North America, Sara is responsible for the U.S. implementation of Hubquarter. In partnership with community organizations, businesses, and municipalities, Hubquarter repurposes underutilized space to provide meaningful places for remote employees to work, live and engage. A new way of working – Hubquarter naturally promotes social connectedness and addresses the priorities set forth by the U.S. Surgeon General in his most recent report.

A native of the greater Chicago area, Sara graduated from Boston College, where she received her bachelor’s degree in theology with a minor in communications. She earned her Master’s degree in Social Work with specializations in administration and gerontology from San Diego State University. Sara is a mom of three children and says yes to any activity that gets her outside.
