Dr. María Ximena Hincapié is an assistant professor at the Universidad de los Andes’ School of Management. She received her Ph.D. in Management Sciences from the ESADE Business School, Ramon Llull University (Spain). She also holds a Dual Degree MBA/MIM from Icesi University (Colombia)/Tulane University (USA), a master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering from ENSEA (France), and a Bachelor in Engineering in Electronic Engineering from Universidad de Los Andes (Colombia).
Her research focuses on virtual work, virtual teams, leadership, and gender differences at work. Before her academic career, she worked for multinational companies in France and Colombia. Her experience working in geographically dispersed teams in the telecommunications industry inspired her research on virtual teams, virtual work, leadership, and gender. She has received several scholarships, including the FI Research Grant (co-financed by the Generalitat de Catalunya and the European Social Fund) and the Eiffel Excellence Scholarship (granted by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs). She is also a member of the academic honor Society of Beta Gamma Sigma, which recognizes academic excellence in business studies (Tulane University Chapter).
