Dr. Olivia Foster-Gimbel is an assistant professor of Management and Global Business at Rutgers Business School- Newark/New Brunswick. She completed her PhD in Management and Organizations from NYU Stern School of Business in 2024.
She researches allyship, the efforts of those who actively work for equity for marginalized groups, not as a member of that group but in solidarity with its struggle. She also focuses on challenges that allyship brings, such as evoking negative emotional responses or questioning taken-for-granted policies, and how organizational interventions can increase effort and commitment to social equity goals.
Olivia is committed to doing theoretically and practically meaningful work and was awarded a Responsible Research in Business and Management "Dare to Care" Dissertation Scholarship for these efforts. Olivia is also passionate about creating an inclusive classroom environment and has implemented this in her undergraduate courses. Ultimately, she hopes to share her insights to promote an equitable workplace.
