
Dr. Mary Chayko is a sociologist, author, and Distinguished Teaching Professor at Rutgers University's School of Communication and Information, where she directs the programs in Gender & Media and Digital Communication, Information & Media. Her research explores the impact of social media and digital technology on people's everyday lives, communities, relationships, and selves. She speaks nationally and internationally on the topic, and has published many articles and books, including three editions of Superconnected: The Internet, Digital Media, and Techno-Social Life (SAGE Publications) and the Library Journal bestseller Portable Communities: The Social Dynamics of Online and Mobile Connectedness (SUNY Press).
